I love taking pictures of flowers. This amaryllis looked so translucent in front of the setting sun.

I have gone so long without posting! I have been busy painting but haven't uploaded any pictures yet. One painting was a gift for some friends as a welcome home gift. My friend's husband has been away for a year in Afghanistan and she sent me a beautiful photo that he took of some mountain ranges while he was there. It was very challenging to do because I've never painted such a scene before. The mountains were snowy on top and there was sand and scrub brushes in the valley below.

Also, we got a dog...after waiting so long for the right one. Her name is Hailey. She is definitely keeping us busy!

16X20" Graphite
Andrea

This is my cousin Andrea.

My display/showing and selling art work at the LOMA LOOP art festival in Wilmington...a small start but it started opening some doors for me and helped me meet some local artists. It gave me a connection to start me off doing my first ever workshop, which will be in November. I will be doing a workshop on portraiture. I hope it all goes okay.

Fall foliage.
My husband Ben took this photo when we were hiking at Rickett's Glen and I think its beautiful.

Iris Garden

Iris Garden
18X24" oil painting

This is the reason why I haven't posted new art for a while, I've been working on this one.

It isn't quite finished yet because I still need to work on the background (right now its just the primary layer and I'd like to make it a lot lighter). I'm happy with how it turned out which is why I'm posting it before its quite done!

11X14" oil painting.

I don't know what to title this one. It is my first truly abstract piece.

Iris, 8X10" watercolor painting.

I made this painting in around an hour, which is sort of in a hurry. Unlike most things I make when I rush, I'm quite happy with how it turned out.

11X14" Pastel painting.

This looks a lot like home, when the fog settles down in the valley during early evening or morning hours.

Blue and Pink Iris

Blue and Pink Iris
11X14 original oil painting

I really love painting Irises.
I've created a lot more artwork this year and I created a new blog for all my new artwork.

I intend to update it with paintings on a weekly basis (hopefully!) perhaps even daily, depending on what sort of creative mood I'm in.
